Parenting with kids
Before we have children, we have all these wonderful ideals of what we will and will not do as a parent. Sometimes we even condemn those who are already parents for some of their parenting tactics or lack thereof. We say (hopefully just to ourselves), “My child would never dream of yelling at me that way,” or “My child will come when I ask them to,” or “I would never let my child eat that!”
Then we have kids of our own…
When they are young, everything is going great. We may find ourselves sleep deprived and in need of a shower, but still feeling pretty good that we can keep the tiny human alive and mostly happy.
Then they start to talk, and crawl, and walk.
Then they start to talk back, and run away, and throw things, and other maddening gestures.
Then things continue to get interesting and we wonder, did tiny human come with an owner’s manual?
Then, the really funny part happens… We do exactly what we said we wouldn’t.
Parenting is one thing, but parenting with kids is an entirely different subject. The good news is, we are all in this together.
I am a mother of 5 tiny humans that are still pretty tiny. I have triplet girls who are 9. Then I have a 7-year-old girl. The caboose of this train is a 5-year-old boy.
While I will never claim to be perfect, especially at parenting, I do learn from my mistakes and the mistakes of others. I also love to learn from “professionals” and what they have found through a lot of research and such.
This blog is meant to share what I have learned, and what works for me. Everyone is different, but somethings hold true.
So, join me while we figure out how to raise tiny humans to be upstanding citizens who love the Lord!
